Weston, Florida—January 21, 2009—For almost two decades, DHL Global Mail has streamlined mail delivery for corporate customers, cutting their postage costs while providing fast transit times. Now the mail expediter is streamlining its processes even further.
Demonstrating its commitment to technological innovation, DHL Global Mail—which offers unmatched solutions for high-volume mailers—has invested over $1.5 million in two advanced sorting machines. This state-of-the-art equipment will be installed at the company’s two largest mail terminals in the U.S., in Chicago and metropolitan New York City. While both facilities are already highly automated, like all DHL Global Mail terminals, adding the new sorters will further eliminate manual processes. As a result, DHL Global Mail can cut mail handling costs, helping keep rates down for customers. At the same time, the machines will perform a series of processes to ensure fast, accurate delivery and enhance tracking visibility.
“At DHL Global Mail, we’re in the business of making mail delivery as efficient as possible,” said Frank Bettgenhaeuser, Senior Vice President of Operations for DHL Global Mail — Americas. “The latest sorting technology helps us achieve that objective, enabling us to offer customers even better value and delivery performance.”
The two new machines are IntelliStar MC models by BÖWE BELL + HOWELL, which designs and manufactures class-leading mail sorting systems. Customized for DHL Global Mail with high-speed feeders for flat-size mail, the equipment processes materials at a dizzying rate of 8,000 pieces per hour.
DHL Global Mail purchased the two new sorters as part of an ongoing infrastructure investment program. The first machine is being installed this month at DHL Global Mail’s Chicago terminal, and the second will arrive at the New York-area facility in April.
As a mail expediter, we’ve perfected a process that saves you time and money.
